Fireside to film, the power of an artful story can carry the wind, which is why I, Rachel Seekamp, love stories of all kinds. Born in Colorado to two artists—a jeweler and a potter—I was destined to express myself through art from the moment I could hold a pencil. Since then, I have been immersed in a life expressed artistically through drawing, design, and, of course, storytelling.
As a freelance writer with a Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, my passions for art and storytelling intersect on my Designer Writes Design blog—a platform dedicated to interior design. Since the fall of 2019, I’ve had the privilege of crafting features, including cover stories, for Home & Design Magazine, targeting Florida’s luxury market. While my design articles adhere to nonfiction, my creative spirit flourishes in fiction, where I revel in the art of rewriting, finessing, and reimagining worlds and characters. My literary portfolio includes magazine features, website copy, newsletters, poetry, a completed full-length YA manuscript, and a children’s book series currently in progress.
Outside of my professional life, I dedicate myself to my family, embracing my roles as a mother and wife with joy and love. Whenever I find a moment to myself, I enjoy drawing (mostly doodles) and quilting, activities that nourish my creative spirit.
