September 7, 2024 Meeting Minutes
- Karen shifted host of Zoom to Diane since she has to leave meeting at 10:45am.
- Members in attendance: Diane Chambers, Andrea Antico, Karen Gonzales, Eleanor Binnings, Karen Gladstone, Ann Klaiman, Virginia Small
- Andrea Antico provided examples of words beginning with “re” since the presentation was on Researching History for Fiction. She found that kids learn to read better using words starting with “re” since “re” means back or again or about or concerning something such as research, reinventing, etc. It opens up a lot of words.
- A motion was made by Karen Gonzales to accept August Minutes; Ann seconded. All in Favor. Minutes approved.
- Treasurer’s Report was not presented since Kelly Ann was absent.
- Website report was presented by Virginia Small. She talked with Diane and Bluehost and created a new account.
- Critique Group reported by Eleanor that there are four members and open slots if anyone wants to join.
- Tapestry: No updates.
- Historian: Sue was not present.
- Membership: Invites were sent to the guest list. Rachel can post meetings on Colorado Writers & Publishers Facebook page.
- Zoom account was renewed.
- Auditor report has no updates.
- Programs report presented by Rachel. She will send out a google sheet she created to record presenters.
September – Researching History for Fiction by Sharon Short
October-Members can attend the Lalo Delgado Flor y Canto Poetry Festival in place of meeting.
November – Ghost writing presentation
December – Holiday party / January is open
February – Unlocking Secrets of Magazine Writing
March – Writing for the Magical Community
- Old Business. No info on contest.
- Announcements. Virginia is working on an Anthology, The Divide, a graphic comic novel.
Eleanor’s book Soul Tramp, a literary novel is on Amazon. Andrea will be sending her new book to Ingram. Diane will check on Windcrest craft sale. There is a panel at Belmar Library at 2:00pm on September 21st. Nancy Defoe – for Poem with a Pen Woman’s Art Contest?
September 11 is the next National Zoom Meeting.
- Ann moved to adjourn the meeting at 10:22AM.
