Minutes
- Linda called the meeting to order at 9:35 AM.
- Members in attendance: Eleanor Binnings, Karen Gonzales, Karen Gladstone, Linda Volin, Ann Klaiman, Diane Chambers, Carol Ehrlich, Atlanta Sheridan, Aleta Kazadi, Aurora Umana-Arko, Sue Luxa, Kelly Ann Compton
- Introduction of guest in attendance: Sara Frances
- Inspirational reading: Andrea wasn’t present. Carol provided some quotes from Ovid, Paulo Coelho, Oscar Wilde and others.
- Linda motioned to approve the February Minutes. Atlanta seconded. All in favor. Kelly Ann motioned to accept January minutes. Eleanor seconded. All in favor.
- Kelly Ann reported there is currently $800 in the account balance. Diane moved to accept the Treasurer’s report. Ann seconded. All in favor.
- Committee Reports:
- Membership: Diane reported Aleta may get her application in. Colorado Cafe may bring some interest.
- Zoom Update: Atlanta reported Zoom is working.
- Website: Linda read Virginia’s report: The website does not support Roman numerals. The only choices available are numbers and bullets. The general formatting is also changed. Virginia said she is looking into solving this issue.
- Critique Group: Eleanor reported Atlanta and Karen Gladstone were critiqued. Six participants are in the Critique Group.
- Outreach/Tapestry: Karen Gonzales received an email from History of Colorado stating that they would pass on March Women’s History Month and Bold Women Series, but passed on the email to Cat Jensen at the Center for Colorado Women’s History.
- Historian: Aurora took possession of materials from prior Historian. Materials go back to the 1980’s. She’d like to know the vision for the materials and historical documents. Karen suggested putting them in an album notebook with plastic slots to insert documents. Send Aurora digital photos of past years to 720-865-1821. - Programs: Karen reported:
- March ~ Our members will share what they are working on.
- April Presenter will be Jeff Neuman on How to Write for Theatre.
- May Presenter will be Ricardo Bogaert-Alvarez on Poetry: Mexican Poet Pablo Neruda and haiku poetry. Tanka was also suggested he cover. Karen will check if he can present Tanka instead of Memoir.
- June – In Person Potluck with Zoom at Candlewick suggested by Andrea.
- July – No meeting.
- August suggestions were Jolene Gutierrez, middle grade Author and Pam Mingle, historical romance fiction
- Old Business:
- Diane mentioned Barnes & Noble book signing March 25th. Linda sent out a press release.
- Send Linda any writing that was done at the December meeting.
- No committee members present to report on writing and art contest.
- New Business: April 30th Outreach Event 1:30-4:00pm Readings at The Manchester Apartments Party Room where Eleanor lives.
- May 10-13 Pen Writers Retreat
- Kelly Ann will send notice for dues next month.
- Ray Cober joined the meeting but got disconnected.
- Linda motioned to adjourn meeting at 10:49am. Atlanta seconded. All in favor. Members will present their works at 10:55am.
