A memoir documenting Kelly Ann Compton’s personal journey, Discombobulated: An Inspiring Journey of Hope through Mental Illness , is now on sale at The Tattered Cover’s three Denver-area locations. Compton, a Denver Branch member, holds master’s degrees in elementary education and special education with emphases in teaching those having visual impairments and emotional disabilities. She also holds a master’s degree in counseling from Denver Seminary.

May meeting features field trip
The Denver Branch’s May meeting will focus on changes in the printing industry that offer expanded possibilities for authors and artists. At 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 5th, Peter Van Devanter will lead our group on a ninety-minute tour of the Frederick Printing facilities in Aurora. Guests welcome. Local graphic designer Nick Zelinger (NZ Graphics) is a friend of the Denver Branch. Nick’s excellent designs have put several of our members on the road to publishing. Nick is also a member of a band called Thin Ice and has now published his own first book. Here are the details:

Lead singer Nick has just published Another Nightmare Gig from Hell – a compilation on stories from musicians across the country about funny, quirky, spooky recollections of gigs gone wrong. Colorado author Carol Denker trained as a journalist late in life and published her first book, Autumn Romance, at age 65. The nonfiction work features stories of 29 couples who discovered a new love relationship after age 50. Denker travelled throughout the United States to capture their diverse stories. At our April 7th meeting, she will share a process that involved reinventing herself, as well as writing and publishing this book.
